Copyright 2017 NPR. To see more, visit ARI SHAPIRO, HOST: Republicans celebrated today as the House voted this afternoon to pass a $1.5 trillion tax cut bill. The Senate votes tonight, but a procedural hurdle late today means the House will have to vote again tomorrow. The bill is still expected to pass even though it has broad public disapproval. Today, House Speaker Paul Ryan said he believes that sentiment will change once the law takes effect. (SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING) PAUL RYAN: When people see their withholding improving, when they see the jobs occurring, when they see bigger paychecks, a fairer tax system, a simpler tax code, that's what's going to produce the results.
